Last week, one of the most exciting demo was revealed showing off Folders on Windows Phone. While Android and iOS owners enjoy the folders option on their devices, Windows Phone owners are yet to experience it. Folder option became so demanding that the developers have to release it for the general public use. In the past, we mentioned a concept that brings the similar functionality to WP.

Speaking of this application then it is a great start for WP users as they would love to get rid of some applications from start menu to better organized folders.

Android and iOS owners have a freedom to group the applications or games according to category into single Folder. For example all the social networking apps will be under ‘Social folder’. Now, similar operation can be performed (but in much more restricted manner) on Windows Phone as well. This homebrew application has been released today after it saw a high demand from the community users. It was first demonstrated last week on XDA forum.

The homebrew application—named as Folders for Windows Phone Mango – has been developed by the folks over at Windows Phone Hacker. Although this property is seems quite useful but it has few stumbling block before it basks in full glory. The team has also pointed out the fact that it is not as foolproof as they would have liked it to be. The downside of this application is that you need Folders Config desktop application everytime you need to adjust something. It does the following functions

  • Add Folder to the List
  • Add applications to the Folders

Follow the instructions given below to add Folders to Windows Phone Mango

Step 6: An application begin with your Folder will appear on your phone with list of your folders (if there are multiple folders created by you)

Step 7: Simply tap on the folders and pin them to the start screen

That’s it!!!

Remember, you need to use desktop FoldersConfig.exe file every time you want to adjust something in folders. This is little bit annoying, but we have to live with it until and unless Microsoft provides us an easy way to implement it.
