In the past, Sony Ericsson has never considered Windows Phone as a serious player to excel in smartphone arena. SE’s policy to clung to Android is not paying off either. Despite its continuous efforts to get maximum out of Android OS, SE’s Android devices has never been considered as a main stream android smartphone.
SE has been sidelined by HTC, Samsung and other android powerhouse manufacturers. On the other hand, Windows Phone market is still raw and there are plenty of chances to latch onto significant market-share with MS partnership. Look at the Nokia and MS alliance, which is doing wonders with Lumia series devices. This could be the reason that Sony would have a second thought in mind to consider Windows Phone as a new home.
Last week, we saw some of the leaked images of Sony Ericsson Windows Phone. This time around XDA site has got some hazy images of what purported to be an Xperia Arc S device running on Windows Phone. An anonymous source has provide some of the hazy screenshots which claimed to be Sony Ericsson Windows Phone.
The screenshots are also very different from the previous screenshot, forcing us to suspicion that Sony is planning to launch series of Windows Phone devices. However, there are certain areas that creates a doubt on the legitimacy of this screenshot.
One of the obvious reason to doubt is missing three keys near the bottom: Back, Windows and Search, which is a hardware requirement laid out by MS. In all fairness, we would like to call this image as a fake one, but we hope that we’re wrong.
Sony would have to provide a better hardware and attractive design, if it intends to go main stream with Windows Phone OS. Otherwise, Nokia lumia series devices will outsmart the Sony design and hence significant share. Let’s see what Sony has to offer at this MWC event, which just a month away.
