Earlier, we informed you about the availability of Windows Phone 7.5 Mango for almost all regions. However, only 10% of users will be eligible to get Mango update during first week, and 98% users will receive it over a period of few weeks.Preciously, it could take up to four weeks before your device receives official Mango update, which is considerably a long wait, keeping the fact in mind that there are over 500 new features has been introduced with this new release. Definitely, people like us are annoyed with such a long span for providing such a major update (this is a first major firmware update)

We’ve already provided a quick solution to force Zune to update your phone to Windows Phone 7.5 Mango, even if it is not available in your region.  Many people are complaining about the error 801812C1 during the update process, which is a common problem due to drivers issue. If your device driver has not been updated properly, then you may not be able to force Zune to update your device to Mango update. You will consistently receive 801812C1 error no matter how many times you try.

Luckily, there is an easy solution to fix error 801812C1. Follow the steps mentioned below carefully in order to fix this issue.

Fix Error 801812C1 during Windows Phone 7.5 Mango update

801812C1 error appears after Step 6 of 10 during installation process. Here is how to solve it

Step 1: Unplug your device from PC (unplug USB cable from PC or Phone).

Step 2: Press and hold ‘Power’ button for approximately 5 seconds. As soon as you see Goodbye! message leave the button.

Follow the below step carefully

Step 3: Press ‘Power’ for 2-3 seconds to turn on your device, as soon as your device vibrates hold on Camera button until the “Connect to PC” screen appears on your device. Release the Camera button now.

Step 4: Connect your device to the PC via USB cable.

Step 5: You need to validate your device driver from ‘Device Manger’. Follow the below steps

• Click start, right-click on Computer and click on Properties option
• Click Device Manager
• Go to ‘Portable Devices’ and expand the option.

The model name of your device should be listed under this option. If not, then head over to step 6

Step 6: If there is a error in Portable Devices section, then it can be easily resolved automatically using Microsoft Fix it. Download Microsoft Fix it for Windows Phone and Zune via this link.

Once downloaded just run the program. It will automatically update driver and fix the problem.

Step 7: If there is no error in device driver, then the problem could be due to slow internet connection.

Restart your phone by holding Power option and follow the forced Windows Phone 7.5 Mango update again. For your reference we’re providing the most important steps here.

Step 8: After connecting your device to PC, navigate to Settings->Phone option. Go to update option.  If there is an option to update to Mango or 7403 then proceed as usual, if not, follow the below step.

Step 9: Select any of the above or below option of UPDATE. Now click on UPDATE again which will force Zune to check server for any available update. This is the trickiest part. As soon as you click on UPDATE (second time) unplug your ETHERNET cable or Wireless connection through which you used to connect to Internet. This will present Mango or 7403 (in case on 7392) update.

Step 10: Plug in your ETHERNET cable or connect to Wireless network and click on Update button to follow the procedure to update your device to Windows Phone Mango.

Microsoft has officially started rolling out Windows Phone 7.5 Mango update to almost all regions as we write. However, you may not be able to see an update notification for your device, since it takes up to four weeks to to get Mango update on your device. Zune can be tricked into providing the Mango update right away. Before you move on to follow the entire procedure make sure you read the given instruction twice. You should also charge your mobile battery to 50% or higher, make sure that you have enough power supply so the process is not interrupted due to power failure. This is a legit method, in the sense that you’re getting an official update from Microsoft instead of illegal custom ROM.

For those who are already on 7392 pre-mango build should not face any problem. Connect your device to Zune player and update your Windows Phone to latest update (pre-Mango update) if you haven’t done already.

Install Windows Phone 7.5 Mango

Note: Follow the steps carefully. We should not be held liable if you brick your device and loss your data during the update process.

Step 1: Download Zune 4.8 to prepare your device to update to Windows Phone 7.5 Mango.

Step 2: Connect your device and sync your all content to Zune so you can revert back to old firmware and get all personal data by using either restore point and re-syncing wit Zune.

Step 3: Once you connect your device Zune should automatically launch and identify your device. On the top go to Settings->Phone->date option. In case if you get Mango firmware notification, you can update your device to Windows Phone 7.5 right away. If not, follow the below step

Step 4: Click on any other option above or below update (i.e. Linking, Wireless Sync respectively), then again click on ‘UPDATE’ option, but this time abruptly remove your network connection by pulling the Ethernet plug or switching off the Wireless network.

Step 5: You should get the notification for Mango update. If it says couldn’t connect to server or Phone is up to date notification, then you should repeat the Step 4 again. Repeat the steps several time if you fail to get Mango update notification.

That’s it!!! Once you get Windows Phone Mango 7.5 update notification, connect your PC to Internet network and follow the update procedure as mentioned by Zune.
