
Finally, Nokia unveiled Lumia 610, a lesser targeted ultra cheap handset, in a press conference at MWC 2012. Previously, arrays of rumors had predicted that Nokia would release Lumia 610 handset at a dirt cheap price. Now, Nokia is lending credence to the rumors that Lumia 610 is coming to target more market. This will be the fourth handset in Lumia series handsets.
Microsoft and Nokia alliance has already performed when in high-end smartphone market with Lumia 800 handset. The Lumia 800 is outselling iPhone 4S in Russia and giving it is neck-to-neck competition in many other markets. The only concern for Nokia was the users resides in the bottom of the pyramid.
The low-end smartphone segment is reigned by Android handsets, especially by Samsung handset. To change the equation in its own favor Nokia has jumped into this segment as well. It seems that Nokia has certain solid plan to recapture its lost territory. Firstly, they targeted high-end segment and now they’re targeting low-end smartphone segment.

Microsoft Windows Phone team did a commendable job by optimizing Windows Phone OS to run on lower-cost hardware. Few months back, when Microsoft changed the minimum requirement for OS to run, people had started guessing about low-end device. Although it is nice to see that Nokia is starting to “rise from the ashes” this really is a sub-standard “budget” handset.
You can get the equivalent Android device for like $50.00 now. Nokia is going to need to step up their game and offer some high end devices for the power users if they wish to really try and get back in the game!
