Over the years, Instagram established as a photo sharing site. With over 10 million registered users, it is one of the most crowd-pleasing photo-sharing site with capability share the photos to different social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare, Tumblr, Flickr and Posterous.

However, the lack of dedicated application on different platform makes it away from the reach of normal people. The situation seems more grim for evolving mobile platform like Android and Windows Phone. What surprises us more that there is no application available to millions of Android and Windows Phone users yet. In October 2010, a dedicated Instagram application launched in Apple’s app store, and since then it has never looked back.

Exacerbating the situation further there is not third-party client available to Windows Phone community user. In such a benighted environment, Windows Phone developer Nazer Aminou has gone one step further and developed an application called Metrogram which will let you enjoy Instagram on your WP, though not to the fullest extent.

Metrogram for Windows Phone

Metrogram is the first Instagram app for Windows Phone. Last week, Bil Simser was also in limelight due to his endeavor in creating a unofficial Instagram client, but we still can not find it in the marketplace yet.

Metrogram barge into Windows Phone marketplace before Bil’s version. However, it comes with a limited functionality, but blame Instagram for that. The lack of support doesn’t allow developer to create full-fledged third party client. However, it is nice to have something rather than nothing.

Using Metrogram you can browser through popular photos and share them to different social media networking sites. Next version promises to bring more support like

• Log in to your account
• Browse users photo
• Search for photos
• Take Screenshot (and upload?)
• More themes support

Without the help from Instagram itself, don’t expect to change the features radically. It will be limited to browsing function. However, the developer told us that he is already in the talk with the officials to see what they can offer.

As a free application, Metrogram is worth trying. It would be also interesting to see the reaction of Bil Simser on this application. In near future, we may see a similar app from him as well. Whatever, we will keep you updated with all the news related to it.
