September 28th, 2011 Written By Tutorial 20 Comments

Earlier, we informed you about the availability of Windows Phone 7.5 Mango for almost all regions. However, only 10% of users will be eligible to get Mango update during first week, and 98% users will receive it over a period of few weeks.Preciously, it could take up to four weeks before your device receives official Mango update, which is considerably a long wait, keeping the fact in mind that there are over 500 new features has been introduced with this new release. Definitely, people like us are annoyed with such a long span for providing such a major update (this is a first major firmware update)

We’ve already provided a quick solution to force Zune to update your phone to Windows Phone 7.5 Mango, even if it is not available in your region.  Many people are complaining about the error 801812C1 during the update process, which is a common problem due to drivers issue. If your device driver has not been updated properly, then you may not be able to force Zune to update your device to Mango update. You will consistently receive 801812C1 error no matter how many times you try.

The model name of your device should be listed under this option. If not, then head over to step 6

Step 6: If there is a error in Portable Devices section, then it can be easily resolved automatically using Microsoft Fix it. Download Microsoft Fix it for Windows Phone and Zune via this link.

Once downloaded just run the program. It will automatically update driver and fix the problem.

Step 7: If there is no error in device driver, then the problem could be due to slow internet connection.

Restart your phone by holding Power option and follow the forced Windows Phone 7.5 Mango update again. For your reference we’re providing the most important steps here.

Step 8: After connecting your device to PC, navigate to Settings->Phone option. Go to update option.  If there is an option to update to Mango or 7403 then proceed as usual, if not, follow the below step.

Step 9: Select any of the above or below option of UPDATE. Now click on UPDATE again which will force Zune to check server for any available update. This is the trickiest part. As soon as you click on UPDATE (second time) unplug your ETHERNET cable or Wireless connection through which you used to connect to Internet. This will present Mango or 7403 (in case on 7392) update.

Step 10: Plug in your ETHERNET cable or connect to Wireless network and click on Update button to follow the procedure to update your device to Windows Phone Mango.

Note: Samsung Omnia users should follow this guide

Ive got a lumia 610, and still not managing.

    for LUMIA 610
doing whats said below helps. Once you are at 6, while restarting, keep an eye.
when it turns off restart it, holdig the cam button on startup, the usb direction will direct towards system. Now remove the usb from PC(NOT MOB) then add back in 3-4sec
Hold the cam button there on for about 6 sec. then stay… you ll see that USB wire connection looks connected on your mobile display-figure wise.

It should start doing the job 7 there on.

    Thank you.

I have a new HTC Titan. Really want to update it so I can unlock it (right now, 7720 and the unlock code only works until it reboots).

I can’t get the button sequence to get in USB download “connect to PC” mode. I think I read it should be “Power until vibrate, let go of power and hold camera” but that just boots it. I tried “Power until vibrate, hold BOTH power and camera” but then it gets in a white screen then black screen reboot loop”.

    suggestions or thoughts?

FIXED!!!! I was having same problem with my Dell Venue Pro Cell Phone with Windows 7. After trying all the steps I found on every forum. I restarted both my phone and computer multiple times., nothing seemed to work…..I always just use the closest USB cord I can find that fits my phone. I decided to try the USB cord that came from Dell with my phone. This worked the first time. There must be certain drivers that are only found the the company specific USB cord. So I recommend trying your HTC original OEM USB cord. Hope this helps….BTW I never did get the “connect to PC” mode to show up, but I didn’t need to once I used the OEM USB cord it updated first time

Hello people. I just wanted to let you all know this took me probably 100 tries before it finally worked. the procedure that fixed this for me is as follows: 1 uninstall all driver information for your phone, 2 turn off phone and turn off computer, 3 put phone into connect to pc mode and plug into the pc via usb cable. 4 turn on the pc and let it reinstall the drivers.
Microsoft fix it would not repair my problem for some reason. It did realize there was a problem but gave me no way to fix it. when I tried updating again it made it past step 6 and installed another driver and after that it began making a backup.
hope this helps some people that might be having some trouble with this.

I just wanted to thank you guys…this has been a thorn in my flesh since Tuesday. I couldnt figure it out..the strange thing is that when i ran microsoft fix-it it showed all my drivers up to date. I realized what i was doing wrong, instead of unplugging the usb from the pc i just unplugged the phone from the usb (big mistake) so i did as directed, the driver was updated properly and now my mango update is rolling along as we speak!!!
