Yes, we know you’re as much surprised as we are at this moment. No there is no potential threat known so far on Windows Phone so you do not need to get your hopes up too high with this release. AVG has been pioneer in providing solid defense against various threats. AVG has released a first ever free antivirus application for Windows Phone users.

This is an android application which has been ported to Windows Phone. We would have welcomed an antivirus application in case there has been any real known potential threat around. However there is no any malware to scan and report on Windows Phone yet.

Virus scanner scans music and images file pretty fast. However, one should expect a real threat from PDF or other documents. Windows Phone is yet to witness any potential security threat. There are also plenty of useless applications or XAP files which lets you side-load the various application. These XAP files from untrusted source can be a real threat in a near future.

We should probably wait for 6 month or so to grow Windows Phone marketplace  to see any real use of AVG antivirus application. For time being, we do not like to spend our energy and effort on such application…sorry…not interested.
