Last month, HTC unveiled some of the upcoming devices powered by Windows Phone Mango. HTC has had a long history of providing quality Windows Mobiles in conjunction with Microsoft in India. However, it didn’t get much popular due to high price tag and several other reasons. Nokia was (and still is) the prime reason among those several reasons, as the people in India trusts Nokia products blindly. There were few other genuine reasons like normal people were not much fond of smartphone, and Nokia had earned a good name because of its low cost and rugged (next to unbreakable body) devices (remember Nokia 1100,1110,2600 and few other products?). But things are changing pretty fast now, for good reasons, people in India are quickly adopting to the new technology.

HTC Radar in India
HTC has come a long way since then. HTC is one of the major partners of Microsoft Windows Phone family OEMs. In the past, they had released HTC Mozart and HD7 (powered by Windows Phone 7 OS) in India. HTC Radar is the flagship product of HTC aimed to win more hearts than money in India. We had a chance to have a glimpse of HTC Radar from the local store and boy we were quite amazed at the design and overall look of the phone.
HTC Radar is priced at Rs. 23990, which is quite steep but very reasonable considering the amount of features and specification it has to offer. There are few Android devices in the market with similar specs which may cost less than HTC Radar, but we’re pretty sure that it can defeat those android phones in the market when it comes to battery life and Mango juice.

HTC Radar is good product to buy considering the fact that it is the only Windows Phone that comes with front-facing camera. Tango should bring the video calling feature using the front-facing camera in the future. Speaking of hardware, Microsoft and HTC has a long way before defeating Android storm in India, and the first step would be a decent hardware. 1 GHz processor is somewhat outdated as we have already got dual core processor with much faster speed.
