With so many Apple’s Siri clone around for Android, this time it’s Microsoft’s Windows Phone OS turn to get some Siri love. Dubbed as Ask Ziggy, this windows phone app works in similar fashion like Siri. Though, it would be unfair to call it as a Siri clone, it should bring astounding amount of Siri-ness to Windows Phone in next iteration.
Apple’s Siri, no doubt, was a revolutionary project when it was launched few months ago. Since then many developers tried to imitate the functionality of Siri, in legal or illegal way, on various platform like iOS (cydia apps) and Android. However, none them came even close to Siri.
Developed by Shai Leib, Ask Ziggy, is a first ever Siri clone developed on Microsoft’s Windows Phone OS, that to with many useful features. Although, Bing Voice service was a decent alternative of Siri on WP platform, it was limited to searches only. In fact, one can not compare both the technologies, since Siri was developed much later after Bing Voice service.
Android fanatics (and Windows Phone fanatics too) would definitely agree to the fact that Siri was marketed tad overwhelmingly by Apple. It fails to recognize other accents and is pretty useless when comes to certain Asian market.
On the other hand, Ask Ziggy successfully understood my Indian accent and worked flawlessly. The app is free, ad-free too, and is available in the marketplace for the download. It works smoothly to perform certain functions like basic math calculation, calling a person, emailing a person, direction etc.
If you are craving Siri like functionality for Windows Phone and more, look no further. Ask Ziggy is your Personal Assistant that goes beyond Siri functionality. You can Call, Text, Email your contacts, Update Windows Live, Facebook, and Twitter, Get Weather, Stock Values, Flight Statuses, Get Ziggy to do Math, or ask any question you want (i.e. Who is the tallest person?) all by speaking to your phone.
Considering the fact that this a work of a single person, there are good chances that Microsoft will team up with him to provide a better Speech recognition software in the near future.
