The folks over at WPCentral have just reported that Ask Ziggy, a Siri like application for Windows Phone, is going through major improvement phase. While Ask Ziggy was able to perform certain basic tasks like math calculation, weather reporting and so on, it lacked power-packed features like Siri. The reason being in so much in love with Ask Ziggy is that it works even with my poor Indian accent.
As Windows Phone user, I personally felt that WP community is way behind Apple community (including jailbreak community) when it comes to application development. Siri, a voice based software assistant, what might have begun as a useful idea becomes despotic. It took the whole smartphone industry by storm. Later on Android tried to mimic the functionality of Siri, but it didn’t even came close to what Siri has to offer.
On the other hand Ask Ziggy, which has been developed by a single person, does a fantastic job. But the overwhelming response from WP community has created a problem with Ask Ziggy’s Nuance engine (it relies upon it heavily). Rest assured that developer is working hard to get the things done. WPCentral has got some exclusive images what seems to be as a major overhaul. Ask Ziggy developer is dressing it up with metro look.

The next version will bring the following features,
- Weather
- Time
- Reminders
Shai Leib, the developer behind Ask Ziggy, is working full-time on this project. We have contacted the developer personally to know what’s in store for us. But we can expect some major changes in the application. Should Microsoft decide to intervene and develop the project, Ask Ziggy will be a serious contender of Siri.
